Some people choose a word every new year to determine what they want the year to look like. Some examples I've heard are:
Brave
Create
Achieve
I've never done one of those before, but if I really think about what I'd love my word to be, I'd choose serve.
I want to take the passions God's given me and use it to pour into young girls lives. To dig deeper into the knowledge of God and gain wisdom through His word. I want to become smaller so that He can become bigger in my life. I will put aside my wants and desires and challenge myself more. I will be present in situations and learn what it means to serve on my knees.
Because let's face it, a word's just a word until you make it an action.
And this year, and all the years that follow, I want to serve my God.
"Whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many," (Mark 10: 44-45).
"For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it," (Matthew 16:25).
