2013 and Our Resolutions

Can you believe 2012 is already over? It seems like yesterday I was sitting on the hood of my car asking God to make it the year he begins my love story.

Maybe he did. Maybe he didn't. The beauty is that I have no idea what he's doing right now. What I do know is that, instead, he answered the prayer I should have asked.

He drew me closer to him.  And oh boy, what a love story it's been.

In late January of 2012, I spent a life changing day with God. It was nothing significant like climbing a mountain or something, just that I spent the entire day alone with him. This kind of thing should be done more often.

First, I wrote out a list of all the books in the New Testament, and from that day on began reading them, crossing them out as I completed each one. It gave me a goal- a destination- and I loved it. I was so sad when I finished.

Second, I wrote a list of goals I had physically, spiritually, and mentally.

And third, I wrote a list of who I wanted to become (read proverbs 31).

From that day on, my relationship with the Lord accelerated at a high speed as I continued to search for him.

So what are your new year resolutions? Have you thought about it? It's good to have goals, but I've learned that even if you do, God may choose something better for you. And that's okay with me. We just need to move forward.

Here are some goals I've thought of for myself:

1. No matter what I have going on, put others before myself. Always.
2. Be brave and always be ready to do the calling God places in my life.
3. I still want to fall in love.
4. Make a difference.
5. Don't forget to have fun.
6. Never stop praying.

I really want to encourage you to set some time aside to spend alone with God, and ask him what it is he wants from you this year. If you have a goal that's really important to you, tell a friend. Let them help you achieve your goal.
